June 23rd @ The Landing Meeting Room 1pm ~ 3pm
This meeting was facilitated by Anne Murray, with Jane Hielman and Jack Caldicott. The idea of this meeting was to form a structure through which the ClallamFood Policy Council would operate. Invitations were sent to a particular selection of community to form a full representation of the stratas that form the ground to ground layers of the food supply and production chain.
Anne opened the meeting to a discussion around the possible choices that would be available to this group. She shared success stories from other Counties and the suggested structure for groups such as this.
Discussion was lively, many ideas and philosophies were shared, it was a good session to gain insight into the needs and wants of our area. Some felt that no progress had been made and others felt that positive steps were obvious. The most common theme was the awareness that we need networking one with the other, and that this would solve a lot of challenges presently being felt.
It was suggested that the Food Policy Council could be responsible for a once a year food summit.
It was decided that there has been and will be a council into the future. That Jane is the only consistent member of the origninal group who volunteered to coordinate the Clallam Food Policy Council, and that along with several others has held the group together.
They liked and endorsed the value of the Mission Statement that has been adopted.
It was felt that the Food Policy Council should be a representative group able to hold authority.
It was pointed out that the dialogue of the group falls into 7 areas
The first item on their agenda is to secure the position of the WSU Agent to replace Curtis Beus.
They will decide on a meeting program.
All information will be kept up to date on this web page.
